THE GLASS EXPRESSING THE METAMORPHOSIS OF BOTH INDUSTRIAL AND MODERN LIFE

Penthouse one north

The Glass House

The Glass House faces both north and south, overlooking the interior courtyard and to the north, King Street West. Historically an industrial district of Toronto, now a vibrant urban arts & cultural landscape, BIG has designed a home that reflects the King Street context. Textured glass, blackened steel, grey marble and dark porcelain tile blend with warm copper cabinetry and light oak flooring, expressing the industrial and modern influences of Chareau’s Maison de Verre.

We see our projects as active engagements with community, as part of a dialogue between what is built, the place where it is situated and the people who live there. Our projects are conceptualized and designed with an awareness of a much larger urban narrative. We look forward to sharing more information about King Street and continuing the conversation around urbanism in Toronto.
